In-Country Travel

It's after 2:00am here (1:00pm Texas time). This is Mike writing and we had planned to do a special post to give readers a better understanding of what our daughter is really like. We were unable to finish it due to our exhaustion so perhaps we can post that one tomorrow. The big news of the day is the fact that we traveled from where we've been staying for the past 5 days to another province. Here we are joining some of the other families who are adopting and will take care of a lot of particulars during the next few days. Tomorrow we have a medical appointment for LiLi (required by the Chinese government). We won't bore anyone with more of these details right now...we try to stick to the more interesting stuff.Today started off relaxing but the late travel sure beat us all up. First breakfast (first pic) then later a work out in the hotel gym. At one point during the day, Mike and Eston went out into the streets to watch and film people (still can't get over how the local people are intrigued by us....tried to capture it some on video). Little LiLi grieved deeply today.... you can see her holding a pic of her foster family while Melissa loved and comforted her. It was a very emotional time for all of us. Miss then had her listen to some Christian hymns in Mandarin (which she loves by the way). After that, she fell asleep in Melissa's arms and then Melissa shared some one-on-one time with Edge ........(her mommy ability is truly off the charts.....approaching sainthood if you ask me).LiLi's first travel by air went smooth...she didn't mind it at all. Enjoy the pics for the day and perhaps we can get out a better post for you tomorrow. Thanks for tuning in.

Well it's good that Lili is progressing in her grieving. It warms my heart to know that you have her listening to Christian hymns to help her through her it. ALREADY you are teaching her to turn to Christ when she needs comfort!

Melissa, you have been like a mother to many of us. You have LOVED us thorough many trials. You have helped us heal by pointing us to Christ and reminding us of his promises, desires and love for us.
I know and belive that it will be NO DIFFERENT with Lili.
Little Lili may not understand it all now, but they way you Mike and Eston have already love on and love her, will be one of the things that helped her to heal and teach her about the way Christ loves us. Our God Is So GOOD! His Mercy is GREAT! We will continue to pray Lili through her grieving. We Love You!!

Prayers & Blessings,
Deborah L.

Hello Today!! Melissa, I wore that shirt yesterday and thought of you.
I'm sure that each new day will bring a new bag of emotions to go with it. It is good that she is grieving her foster family; that tells me that they treated her well which is a praise. How exciting is your life right now? The power of our Father at work in such a visible way....a little bit of heaven here on earth to share the joy of a child.
Love to hear from you guys! Glad everything is going well. Bittersweet to leave that place but we will love to have you home so we can meet her soon.

I just read Deborah's comment and she hit it right on. Melissa, you are a TRUE friend to many of us gals. I can only dream of having a heart as pure as yours. Your children are soooo incredibly blessed to have you as a Mommie!

hello, mike, melissa, edge, and lili, this journey to get lili almost feels like we're all on the journey. I emailed it to danny, cheryl, and mary. I'll send to deborah and little john tomorrow. the way lili picks and teases eston reminds me some of millie. I can't wait to see her and eston, just as much. he is an exceptional little boy. I hope I got this email address right. claudie is flying out in am at 7 for guthrie; the brothers are getting together for a week. claudie and I both get on the internet first thing in the mornings to relish everything that is writtin about your family. I believe what mike said is really true; that you'll couldn't have found a little girl that fits in so well w/your family. are you coming home tomorrow. yu all have been blessed w/so many christian friends. write me back if yu get this. may lots of love and prayers and showers of blessings keep being bestowed on. mom
