THE BIG DAY !!!

Well, where do we start. Isn't she beautiful !!! This must be what God meant in James 1:17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the father (Eston just picked that out of one of his books and read that too us a few minutes ago). I guess we’ll mostly let the pictures do the talking. The first picture on the right was taken after we got back to our hotel room. She was already enjoying fun interaction with her forever mommy. The other pics below are pretty self explanatory. They begin with a few that were taken when we first met her. After taking her from the government office, we went back to our hotel room for a little while. Later, we went to lunch with our agency representative, Ashley. LiLi is a whiz with chop sticks (or a fork) and loves rice and vegetables of course. After lunch, and after Ashley left, we mostly stayed in our room but occasionally went out to walk around, or play in one of the childrens play areas in the hotel. She loves the sticker book.

There’s so much to say. For those of you wondering, the Chinese woman is not her foster mom...she's an orphanage representative.

We know that LiLi did receive the gift we sent and had it all with her in her purse when we met. It seems that she had wonderful foster parents who loved her very much. She is very smart and obviously spent a lot of time with her foster mamaa’. For that, we are so very thankful. However, because she loves her family so much, her grieving will be difficult for her. She is doing great as you can see from the pictures, but she is grieving deeply because she is being taken away from everything that she has known. Right now, she wants to go back home to her family. Many times during the day, she would put her flip flops on, go and get mine for me to put on and then gather all of her things together in her purse. She would then say mamaa’ (and then speak something very clearly in mandarine). Walking me to the door I knew she wanted to take me outside. She would push the elevator button herself; once down in the lobby, she would lead me outside and while pointing at the buses would talk to me in mandarine. (She was asking me to take her home). On the other hand, it’s obvious she knows we are her parents. She wants to go back to what’s familiar to her but she also has a peace and a calmness about her spirit. It’s obvious that her foster family has prepared her for this day. She’s been calling us babaa’ and mamaa’ since the moment she met us. The little family picture album that we sent her is worn out and it’s obvious that she has been looking at it a lot. Even the t-shirt we sent her with our pictures on it is faded and worn. We are happy that she is grieving…we know that it’s healthy for her. We’ve prayed from the beginning that her grieving would be immediate and healthy. Even so, it is difficult for Mike and I because we know she’s hurting. We believe that her foster mom is probably the one hurting the most.

Praise God. She is so beautiful. Wow, what joyful emotions you guys must be feeling. It's hard for me to even express the emotions I felt reading your blog and looking at the pictures. Lili is right where God wants her to be now. I know the adjustment will be difficult, but with all the love and prayers she will be receiving, you guys will do just fine. We are very happy for you guys and can't wait to see your complete family.
Hudson and Macie say "hi" to Eston.
Love you,

Adkins Family!

We are feasting on your words and your pictures. What a delight and joy. She is so beautiful! She has such a connection with you already. Thank God she received your package! He answers prayer! She is doing even better than I hoped for. That's just like God. I dreamt about you guys all night last night.

Savannah went up stairs a while a go (after reading your post) and looked like she was about to cry. I followed her and questioned about it, but she denied it. I pushed a little more and the tears started flooding. She said she didn't know exactly why she was crying, she's just so happy about Lili. She said she is relieved you finally have her. It reminded me of myself after each of the girls were born. I believe Savannah loves Lili as much as is possible for a big cousin to love.

Bless you all. We are so happy for you and with you. There are so many emotions we are going through here right now. We can't wait to meet her.

Hugs and kisses,
Aunt Tammy

Big, fat tears in my eyes....she is so beautiful and it is good to see a smile despite the grieving. I think in older children like LiLi, grieving and bonding can happen simultaneously. It breaks my heart to read of her packing her things—bless her. Praying for the transition, praying that healing comes from grieving, praying for Eston to understand the process she will need to go through, and praying that God will grow an intense love inside of her for her new family. May God bless your first few days together.

To the famous Adkins family, hallelujah and praise to each of you as you now have an opportunity to expand your parent responsibilities to allow a young lady to grow and expand her life in a positive way with tremendous support from each of you. You are gifted and giving in being able to touch her life which is so powerful.

We are so excited about our family having the opportunity to say our child, Melissa, our son-in law Mike and our grandson Eston are now moving in a very special way to enhance their closeness and bonding in order to bring LiLi into their arms. Love Dad/Mom T

This is so awesome! I am trulu blown away by what God has done. He chose you to be LiLi's family before she was even conceieved and then made a way for you to find her...all the way in China.

I know she is confused. afraid and even hurting some...but praise God she also knows how to love and bond to people who love her. She will quickly love you guys and will go through the grieving process at a supernatural speed as God has ordained this.

I cannot read your updates without crying "tears of joy" like Eston.

You guys bring hope and build faith to a future that sometimes look bleak.

We cannot wait to meet her and love on her.

We are continually praying for you guys.

Know that you are missed and loved and have a huge group of peoepl waiting in your return.

Love...Tony & Gena Glasco

After studying your blog for quite some time....I finally pulled myself away to show my husband Rick what great people you are. I am so blessed to know you as friends and am so happy that you have found LiLi. You can't imagine what your life has in store for you, but this is definitely what your family was made and put together for....to support, nurture and love each other. Your family is complete now and I admire your strength as a family. Look forward to meeting your "whole" family when you return. We need to get the guys together anyway....looks like we do the same activities...they need to climb together. Love, The Bleemel's
